As Spain is a member of the Schengen Convention, this visa allows the holder to transit through or remain in the country and all other Schengen states for a maximum period of three months (90 days) within a period of six months (180 days) from the entry date into the Schengen Area.
The Schengen Area is not the same as the European Union (EU). For example, Ireland and Cyprus are not part of the Schengen Agreement. Conversely, there are some non-EU members – Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Switzerland – that are members of the Schengen Visa agreement.
