Introduction to Resumés/CVs

This section gives an overview of the way resumés, CVs and cover letters are typically prepared and used in the local job market.

Below is a brief excerpt from this section:

Always send a CV (curriculum vitae) to apply for a job in Spain. The job posting will usually specify whether you need to submit a cover letter as well, but if not, then it’s best to send both a CV and cover letter.

Usually, you can send your CV and cover letter to the recruiter by email or through a website/app. The websites of some large employers might ask you to first complete an online registration form through which you can upload your CV and add links to your profiles, publications and/or portfolios.

Castilian Spanish is the main business language, so most job applications and interviews are in this language. However, Basque, Catalan, Valencian and Galician are co-official languages, so they might be needed for jobs at the local or regional level.

In recent years, more international companies in Spain have started asking candidates to submit their CVs in English as well as Spanish. Always have an English version of your CV ready, and it should have the same information as the Spanish version.

This is just a brief sample of the extensive information in the GoinGlobal Spain Career Guide, which is carefully researched and regularly updated by local career experts.
